U Matter recognises that ‘we all need to start somewhere’ and the efforts of gaining a clinical placement to complete your training hours, as well as, for your own clinical development and personal growth, can sometimes prove challenging.  Four years running now, U Matter proudly hosts a vast amount of training therapists, as you embark on your professional journey, towards becoming qualified therapists. The feedback from the U Matter team, as well as, service users has been remarkable, and we greatly appreciate your dedication and contribution to our team.

To ensure that we continue providing a nurturing space for our training therapists to grow both personally and professionally, as well as, to best support our clients, we ask you to take your time and review the clinical requirements below, prior to completing this application form.

Essential Requirements for our clinical placement therapists:

  • You must be undergoing a counselling, psychotherapy or psychology diploma/degree, or have completed your Master’s and are looking to gain clinical experience.

  • You must provide fitness to practise confirmation from your course provider prior to starting your clinical placement.

  • You must have a valid DBS check completed within the last three years.

  • You must be able to commit to at least 1 year with U Matter.

  • You must be able to commit up to 4 clinical hours per week.

  • Your training course/institution must be accredited by BACP, UKCP, NCPS, BPS, or HCPC.

  • You must be familiar with and adhere to the  Ethical Framework

  • You must be in regular supervision as per BACP ethical guidelines (fortnightly supervision is compulsory).

    • We offer free in-house supervision, or you may choose to use your own supervisor.

  • Your institute must allow you to provide both in-person and online sessions.

  • You must be able to attend your clinical placement in person (we do not offer remote placements)..

  • You must be willing to engage in ongoing CPD (Continued Professional Development), which U Matter provides to support your professional growth and ensure you’re equipped to support service users.

Once your application has been received, our HR team will review it. If successful, you will be invited for an interview (in person or via Zoom), and we will notify you of the outcome within two weeks.
